The Story

The Tree of Life—one of the most ancient symbols of human history—meets the deep cobalt blue of Iznik in this 30 cm (11.8") masterpiece. Representing immortality and universal order, the sacred branches rise against the dark background like jewels shimmering in the moonlight, showcasing the magnificent contrast power of traditional Turkish ceramics.

The true artistry of this piece lies in the "negative painting" process, a testament to pure patience. In our Kütahya studio, master artisans meticulously applied the cobalt pigment around the central motifs to preserve the pristine white of the branches and delicate floral sprays. During the firing process, the interaction between the high-quartz body and mineral pigments creates an oceanic depth on the ground, allowing the intricate pattern to emerge with a three-dimensional vitality beneath the crystalline glaze.
